We Start With Your Foundation

Before we add any intensity, we rebuild your core from the inside out. That means assessing for diastasis recti and designing exercises that are safe for your specific situation. Many traditional core exercises including crunches and sit-ups can actually make abdominal separation worse. Our trainers know the difference and will guide you through movements that close the gap and restore function rather than create more problems down the road.

Pelvic floor work is woven into everything from the beginning. You will not be handed a sheet of exercises and sent off on your own. This work gets integrated into your movements so it becomes second nature, and our coaches keep a close eye on any signs that you need to pull back or modify.

Progressive Strength Training That Meets You Where You Are

Once your foundation is solid, we build on it. Strength training is the most effective tool for postpartum fat loss and body recomposition, and it is also what helps you feel capable and strong in a body that may feel very foreign right now. Every exercise in our program is scalable. No two new moms are starting from the same place, and our coaches modify in real time based on what your body is doing that day.

Some weeks you will feel strong and ready to push. Other weeks, after a rough night or a growth spurt, you will need a lighter session. Both are completely fine here. Progress is not always linear after having a baby, and Lean Mommy is built to work with that reality rather than against it.

Scheduling That Works Around Mom Life

Sessions at our La Quinta studio and our Palm Springs studio are scheduled at times that actually work for moms. We know nap schedules matter. We know pickups happen. We know some days are just impossible. Our team works with you to find a schedule that fits your life, not the other way around.

When Is It Safe to Start?

This is one of the most common questions we get, and the honest answer is that it depends on your specific birth and recovery.

After a vaginal delivery, most doctors will clear you for light exercise around the six-week mark. We always recommend getting that clearance from your OB before starting any structured fitness program, including ours.

After a C-section, recovery typically takes longer. Most moms are looking at eight to twelve weeks before getting clearance, and some need more time depending on how the healing goes. Our trainers have worked with many C-section recoveries and know how to modify so you are not rushing anything your body is not ready for.

The most important thing to know is that there is no right timeline. Some moms start at eight weeks postpartum. Others come in at six months or a year after birth. Lean Mommy meets you exactly where you are. There is no catching up to do and no shame in starting later. The only thing that matters is that you start when you feel ready.

Getting Past the Mom Guilt

We talk about this a lot at both of our Coachella Valley studios because it is one of the biggest barriers that keeps new moms from showing up for themselves. The guilt of leaving the baby. The feeling that you should be spending every spare moment with your kids. The sense that wanting to take care of your own body is somehow selfish.

Here is the truth. A healthier, stronger, more energized mom is a better mom. When you have energy, you can be more present. When you feel good in your body, your mental health improves.
