So how do you figure out which one is actually worth your time and money? Because if you've tried a gym before and quit after a month or two, it probably wasn't your fault. A good personal training studio puts a certified coach in front of you every single session. Not once during your sign up tour. Every time.

At Fit in 42 we cap sessions at six people. That's it. Your trainer knows your name, knows your injuries, knows what weight you used last Tuesday. They're correcting your deadlift form in real time, not standing at a front desk scrolling their phone. That level of attention is what gets results. What does the programming actually look like?

Another thing to pay attention to. Is there a structured program or are you just doing whatever the trainer feels like that day? Good programming builds on itself. Is it a community or just a building?

This sounds like a soft thing but it matters more than people realize. The gyms where people actually stick around long term have a community feel to them. You know the people in your class. You notice when someone's missing. People high five each other after a tough set. That stuff sounds cheesy until you experience it and realize it's the reason you keep showing up at 5am.

Big gyms can't really offer this. When there are 400 people with memberships and you never see the same face twice, there's no accountability. Nobody notices if you skip a week. Or a month. At a smaller studio you've got people who know your story and coaches who will literally text you if you fall off.
